The chicks need in the initial phase much heat. If they have cold, the chicks are showing these with their beepers to the hen. The hen take then the chicks immediately under her worming wings.
If you hatched the eggs in an incubator you have to make sure that the chicks are always closed to a heat lamp, under which they can go.
